A Day in the Life | EB Boudoir

Let’s chat about a day in the life of a boudoir photographer. Have you ever wondered what it is like to be a #mompreneur

Maybe you already live that working mom life, just like so many of us. If you are anything like me, I love to sneak a peek at how other female entrepreneurs and working moms are setting their daily schedules, perfecting their morning routines, and creating balance in their lives. I’m always looking for new ideas; however, family time is always at the top of my priority list.

So, what is a day in my life like as a Boudoir photographer? Come on in – let’s start the day off with a nice cup of coffee! Yum, my favorite.

A Day In The Life

Morning

I’m a Mama, so I get up early to be ready before my little girl gets up. Starting with some me-time is essential.

I get dressed, hair done, a little makeup to greet the morning, and a deep inhale and exhale to feel balanced. As a general rule, I stick to this, not having any bad mornings where I’m running around out of sync and delayed.

Time is a precious commodity as a business owner and a mom. After feeding my ridiculously cute kitty and sweet pup, I get her ready and off for school, then head over to my studio in Cherry Creek. The workday begins – I answer emails as I sip coffee and work on edits for a couple of hours.

OR, if I have a session that day, my morning may look a little different once I arrive at the studio:

When there is a photo shoot set for the day, I am excited. There is nothing better than the actual shoot itself and I get to meet my new fabulous client, bring y’all into the studio for a walk-through, set up as we chat all about our shoot together while you relax and get pampered in the makeup and hair chair.

After a session, I’m always pumped and get to editing right away.

Afternoon/Evening

I finish the day with work emails before leaving around two o’clock to pick up my daughter from school. Head home, have some mommy and me time with Ellie (art, homework, snacks, baking, etc.) From there, I answer a couple more emails before I sign off.

Now we are all home, hubby included, and it’s my turn to cook. We all sit down together and eat – this is very important to me. A place where we all come together and forget our day. I clean up afterward while hubby baths our daughter -she very much appreciates and loves daddy and daughter time. Ellie goes to bed, then I sit down to watch some Netflix with the hubby if I can handle not responding to emails.

This mama struggles with work-life balance cause I adore my job so much! A bad habit of mine is to not disconnect in the evenings, I know. But it’s something I’m working on, promise!

I’m hoping to add the gym back in soon! I think heading out to the gym in the evenings will be the best time to relive the day’s stress, get back into my body, and reconnect with myself. Don’t worry, ill try and stay off my phone while on the treadmill. Wish me luck!

As I navigate all this, I have to say it’s all a work in progress. I’m proud of the balance and support my partner, and I have for each other while raising our daughter and managing our careers.

How about you? How do you balance your work-life and family time? I’m all ears! Oh, and if you are in the Denver area, I would love to hear your suggestions for fitness classes!

Contact me here and send me a little note! I always love to hear from my badass boudoir babes.
