What Is Camp Do More?
If you’ve never heard of Camp Do More, I urge you to pause reading this and go check out their website. To be brief, Camp Do More is a sleep-away camp for adult photographers. At its core, Camp Do More is so much more. At Camp there’s no judgment; everyone is accepted as they are. You could walk up to anyone and start a conversation and they would be happy to talk to you. There’s no fear to chat openly about anything. Camp Do More is truly a utopian society.
My first year at camp was filled with meeting new peers and participating in the fun of it all. I modeled for a bunch of shoots, I photographed many amazing peers and friends frolicking in the woods and lake. We even had a talent show, a karaoke night, and a dance party. Year one was fun and light-hearted. But this year was different.

This year tugged on my heartstrings much more. We dug deeper into why we do what we do. We spoke about how, as photographers, we strive to change the perspective of those around us. This year we broke into the deep and heavy talks of life, stresses, and really evaluated our current life paths and where they lead. Even though I love the break from reality, joining and celebrating with like-minded peers, and really getting away from the hustle and bustle of my everyday life. It’s been weeks since I’ve returned, and I’m still trying to bounce back and adjust to reality.
Needless to say, I will be going back next year, and the years following if it continues. As adults, we don’t often get opportunities to spend time like this together anymore. So I encourage you to take a look and make it happen. Your creative soul is calling out “Let go, be free!”
