Couple’s Boudoir Sessions- Are they still offered?

The Dark Story Behind Stopping

You might have noticed that I don’t offer couple’s boudoir sessions anymore… It’s crazy right?! They were fun, steamy, and I actually received awards on a couple photos that I’d submitted to publications… So, why are you hearing crickets when it comes to my couple’s boudoir offerings?

Back in 2019, when I was offering them to anyone that wanted to do them, I had a little “not so savory” experience with a couple. Special contracts were in place and we chatted about the rules of couple’s boudoir upfront. I’d done these shoots a lot that year with not problems so I thought my whole system was perfect and there wouldn’t be any misunderstandings or awkwardness… Right?

(Photo below of one of my favorite couple’s boudoir clients…)

Well, Murphy’s Law right? The couple ignored all the rules of the contract they signed. Rather making this a steamy and tasteful implied boudoir session with me, they made into a porno. After several attempts of reminding them the rules, the last straw blew up in my face when the husband grabbed me and pleaded for me to hop on the bed and get shots with his wife.

I saw red…

I obviously ended the shoot and told them they needed to leave.

Now, let me say, I’m thrilled for couple’s that would like to press their boundaries and try something exciting like that. I have photographer friends who offer shoots like this and get some really great work. It just wasn’t something I offered and I made that 100% clear from the get go. If that was something they desired, they should have gone elsewhere… They knew the rules, and chose to ignore them.

I felt unsafe after that, and so I stepped away.

I know that isn’t a common thing to happen, and probably wouldn’t happen often or at all if I readjusted the booking process and really put new boundaries in place, but at that point, I wasn’t feeling it.

Where I Am Today with Boudoir Photography

Boudoir photography is all about capturing intimate, personal moments, and I’ve found that focusing exclusively on female boudoir allows me to create a space where women can feel completely comfortable, confident, and free to express themselves. My goal is to celebrate the beauty, strength, and individuality of every woman I work with, and I believe that requires a deep level of trust and connection.

By specializing in female boudoir, I’m able to dedicate all my energy and creativity to understanding and highlighting the unique qualities of each of my clients. It’s not just about taking beautiful photos—it’s about creating an experience that leaves you feeling empowered and proud of who you are.

boudoir for women

I still admire the beauty and connection that couple’s boudoir can capture. I just feel that my bad experience has put a damper on my motivation to try to go back.

I’ve chosen to focus on what I’m most passionate about: helping women see themselves in a new, beautiful light. This is where my heart is, and it’s where I believe I can make the most impact.

I understand that couple’s boudoir can be a wonderful way to re-ignite sparks within a relationship. I’ve thought of doing a session with my own hubby, in fact.

Previous Client Offer

If you’re an existing client OR if you’re a previous client I’ve already worked with, reach out if this is something that may interest you. At this point, I’d be happy to offer a mini couple’s shoot to previous clients. You babes aren’t strangers!!

Anyway, I know this was a heavier type post, but you’ve been asking and I wanted to share. Sending all my love to you out there. Hope to hear from you soon.

XO,

Em
