We’re all probably wearing the wrong bra size. Okay ladies, this recurring problem happens ALL. THE. TIME. We are walking around in our day to day lives wearing the wrong bra size. Seriously, it is TRUE.
I’m here to tell you that being a woman is hard sometimes, and yes, there’s not a lot of resources on how what is right or wrong in this department – and that, heck yeah – in boudoir photoshoot, and every day life, wearing the correct bra size is important. Keep on reading for some tips and tricks on how to find the right bra size for you!
#1. How is your bra feeling right now?
First things first, when you come home after a day at work is the first thing you do ripping off your bra? Where is it feeling a lot? What’s bugging you? Are you feeling the hook and eye closure in the back? Does it feel scratchy? Has your strap been slipping all day? You know you’re not comfortable, but sometimes we’re so busy we don’t take the time to figure out how or why.
#2. Try out the class T-Shirt Test!
Try the T-Shirt Test. Put on a tight white T-shirt, and if you can see your brea very clearly… Whether it is the cup edge bulging or gaping, or the strap or the sides where it might be digging in… You are wearing the wrong size!
#3. Try out a professional fitting at a lingerie store!
I can’t say it enough! A professional fitting from a lingerie specialist is the best place to start. You may already know what kind of bra feels the most comfortable for you. You may already know what your breast size or your particular shape (’cause yeah girl! We are all different and beautiful in our very own ways). And if you don’t know this information, a lingerie specialist will know the answers. She’ll help you find the perfect bra that fits right, feels good, that isn’t too tight in the wrong areas, and even the right band size.
Some other fun facts to know about the right bra size, once you have your go to sizing — is to have the right amount of bras in your top drawer. Most likely, you have 20 bras in your wardrobe including some from eons ago. Try out having a solid two or three neutral tones T-shirt bras – whatever is closest to your skin colour. You’re going to be wearing these all the time, so make sure these bras are the right fit, they make you feel good, and that you loooove how you feel in them. Then, throw in a black or coloured T-shirt bra to have some variety. Then, if you’re really adventurous, try a nude or black strapless set, or nice lounge bra or bralette for comfy moments. No woman really needs more than seven bras. I promise you.
Once your new bra comes home with you, remember that the elastic will stretch out as you wear it and needs 24 to 48 hours to shrink back to its original form. Also, if you tend to wear the same bra every day, after a few months it is going to start looking shapeless and wonky. No body wants that.
Remember, that all bodies are beautiful and wonderful. There is no ‘correct size’, finding the right bra is about the right size for YOU.
XOXO,
